Chris Messina wrote an exhaustive piece about what he is calling ‘conversational commerce’, where the capability to buy things is being baked into chat apps in the form of command-line-style microsyntax, or speech commands in voice apps, or invisible AI ‘bots that we communicate with by email or chat.
