In the early days of the pandemic, the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry was operating in uncharted territory as it scrambled to keep supply chains running in the face of drastically shifting consumer behavior. Media coverage of Covid-19 influenced consumer behavior and resulted in sales spikes for cleaning products, food staples, and alcohol. As we’ve settled into a new normal, however, consumers have gone from hedonistic to utilitarian, and we’re beginning to see the drivers that will instill long-term behavior changes across industries and categories.
